infas Institute for Applied Social Sciences conducted from May to September 2017 the second wave of the "BAuA Working Time Survey" on behalf of the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA).

The aim of the survey is to continuously record differences in the organisation of working time in Germany and related aspects of health, as well as physical and mental stress, and to analyse them longitudinally. The study is designed as a panel study to investigate long-term change in the world of work. In addition to the panel participants, the second wave also surveyed an additional refreshment sample of 3,000 individuals to compensate for panel mortality and to reflect population changes since 2015 in the sample.

The population of the "BAuA Working Time Survey" consists of people aged 15 and older who work at least 10 hours per week in paid employment. In addition to persons subject to social security contributions, the population includes, among others, self-employed persons and assisting family members. The sample of telephone interviews is based on a dual frame approach and thus includes randomly generated landline and mobile numbers only.

The data collection was carried out by means of computer-aided telephone interviews (CATI). In the second wave, a total of 10,459 interviews were carried out, including 3,013 interviews with first-time respondents.
