Work engagement is a positive, fulfilling, work-related state of mind that is characterized by vigor, dedication, and absorption.

Aims of this research project are

  1. To replicate research results on determinants of work engagement such as working and employment conditions and personal resources in a representative sample of the German working population (Study on mental health at work),
  2. To explore the relationship between work engagement, mental health and work ability, and
  3. To examine the effect of work engagement on the intention to leave the labor market.

The results of this project provide information on work engagement from representative data of the German working population and enable to derive reference values of work engagement.
