Novel Concepts, Methods, and Technologies for the Production of Portable, Easy-to-use Devices for the Measurement and Analysis of Airborne Engineered Nanoparticles in Workplace Air (NanoDevice)

  • Project number: F 2248
  • Institution: Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA)
  • Status: Completed Project

Description:

Portable, Easy-to-use Devices for the Measurement and Analysis of Airborne Engineered Nanoparticles (ENP) in Workplace Air are essential for comphrehensive risk characterisation and risk assessment. BAuA activities will focus on the development of a modular platform for simultaneous measurements of a combination of particle and aerosol characteristics, including number and surface area concentrations and their size distributions. The modules comprise a pre-separator and conditioner, a particle charger, a classifier, number and surface area measuring devices as well as an electrical and a thermal precipitator. The performance of the novel pre-prototypes in the field will be assessed and compared with the full range of the current state-of-the-art devices by measuring levels of ENP in a wide range of occupational settings.
