Eine Berufsausbildungsstätte für Drucktechnik verwendete Trichlorethylen für das Waschen und die Reinigung von Druckwalzen. Trichlorethylen ist bekanntermaßen krebserzeugend, hat nervenschädigende Wirkungen. Mehrere Optionen wurden geprüft und schließlich wurde Trichlorethylen durch eine kokosölbasierte Verbindung ersetzt.

A printing vocational training facility used trichloroethylene for the cleaning and washing of printing rolls. Trichloroethylene is a known carcinogen and neurotoxicant. Several options were assessed and eventually trichloroethylene was substituted by a coconut oil-based compound.

In einer Krankenhauswäscherei in Madrid wurden Bettwäsche, Handtücher, Arbeitskleidung, etc. für mehrere medizinische Einrichtungen chemisch gereinigt. Perchlorethylen wurde dabei nur für die Entfernung hartnäckiger Flecken verwendet. Durch gewerkschaftliche Intervention gelang die Einstellung der Verwendung des Produkts; Wäsche mit hartnäckigen Flecken wird jetzt ausrangiert.

Elimination of perchlorethylene used for dry cleaning in a laundry establishment

A hospital laundry establishment located in Madrid dry-cleaned sheets, towels, working clothes, etc. for several healthcare facilities. Perchlorethylene was used only to remove persistent stains. Union intervention managed to eliminate the product and clothes with persistent stains are now discarded.

Die regionale Gewerkschaft (CC.OO.) führte einen Substitutionsprozess vieler Reinigungsprodukte durch, die im Hauptsitz der Gewerkschaft verwendet wurden. Die Substitution war Teil eines umfassenderen Präventivprojektes, um das Arbeitsrisiko des Reinigungspersonals zu reduzieren. Ein Bodenreinigungsmittel, das den ein karzinogenen und erbgutverändernden Stoff Isobuten (mit einem Gehalt von mindestens 0,1% Butadien (EC-Nummer 203-450-8)), enthielt, wurde durch ein Produkt mit Isopropanol, einen Stoff der weniger Arbeits- und Umweltrisiken birgt, ersetzt.

The regional trade union (CC.OO.) carried out a substitution process of several cleaning products used in the trade union headquarters. Substitution was part of a broader preventive project to reduce the occupational risks of the cleaning staff.
A floor cleaner containing isobutane (containing > 0,1 % butadiene (203-450-8)), a carcinogen and mutagenic chemical, was replaced by a product containing isopropanol, a chemical with less occupational and environmental hazards.

Food manufacturing and processing company cleaned waffle irons residues in a baking line automatically by a solid-state laser. Before substitution parts are manually cleaned with sodium carbonate and brushes.

Substitution of a dish-washing compound containing Trisodium nitrilotriacetate (NTA salt) in a hospital

In the kitchen of the hospital Parc Taulí in Barcelona a dish-washing detergent containing trisodium nitrilotriacetate (NTA salt) was used. Trisodium nitrilotriacetate is a carcinogenic chemical and was substituted by a product of the same manufacturer that does not contain NTA salts.

Replacement of dichloromethane, trichloroethane, acetone and toluene by dibasic esters as cleaning solvent in a yacht company

Dibasic esters were used by a company building reinforced polyester boats as substitute for a cleaning mixture containing substances that are of concern because of their potential to cause fire, impair health, or affect the environment and the climate.

Ethyl lactate and methyl soyate as bio based alternatives to chlorinated and other petroleum based solvents

Bio based solvents can replace petroleum derived solvents in various applications like adhesives and coating, inks and cleaning products.
