The alternatives are constantly being developed further. We therefore recommend that you to check in each individual case whether an alternative is suitable for your applications and purposes. Examination gloves are used extensively in modern healthcare. Many gloves contain potentially harmful chemicals such as phthalates, latex and PVC. These can be substituted with gloves made of nitrile rubber, neoprene or polyurethane as has been shown by the Swedish National Substitution Group and SEMCO (Miljöstyrningsrådet). An example of successful procurement of PVC free gloves in Stockholm’s Läns Landsting (Stockholm County) is also provided.
