Alternatives to hydrazine in anticorrosion treatment for boilers

Hydrazine is used to protect boilers form corrosion by reducing the concentration of dissolved oxygen in the water and by contributing to the passivation of the metal surface of the installation. Hydrazine is a hazardous substance and alternatives have been found that give acceptable results.

Elektrochemische Methode für die Aufbereitung von arsenhaltigem Trinkwasser

Arsen im Grundwasser ist sehr gefährlich und ein ernstes Problem ärmeren Gemeinden, die es als Trinkwasser verwenden. Eine elektrochemische, kosten-effiziente Methode zur Entfernung von Arsen wird vorgestellt und mit einer Methode verglichen, die aktiviertes Aluminiumoxid verwendet, das mit Natriumhydroxid regeneriert wird. Magnesium hydroxide as alternative to caustic soda in biological treatment of wastewater at a chicken processing plant

A plant for chicken processing replaced caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) with magnesium hydroxide in the secondary treatment of waters. This reduced corrosion risks, lowered the quantity of alkali used and improved process stability.

Electrochemical method for the treatment of arsenic-containing drinking water

Arsenic in ground water is very hazardous and is a serious problem for poor communities that use it as drinking water. An electrochemical, cost effective method for arsenic removal is presented and compared to the method using activated alumina regenerated with sodium hydroxides. Other methods are mentioned and compared briefly.

Alternative technology for the stabilization of secondary waste sludge from waste water treatment

The alternative stabilises the secondary activated sludge from waste water treatment facilities using only physical processes. It makes unnecessary the polymers and strong acid or alkali substances that are generally used to treat this type of sludge and it reduces considerably costs, energy and land use associated with conventional waste treatment.
