Description of Substitution

Cuddly toys with long or synthetic fur often contain allergens and hazardous brominated flame retardants. The bodies are sometimes stuffed with material made from PUR foams which need to be protected against ignition and therefore contain additives like the brominated flame retardants TCEP, TCPP, TDCP and others. Faces, noses and details can be of PVC and may contain phthalates as softeners.

To prevent children from the continuous exposure to those hazardous substances Senger has created fully environmentally friendly stuffed animals. Since the beginning in 1985 Senger has been using solely natural materials. The animal dolls are hand-made from top-quality materials such as sustainably produced cotton, mohair, sheep?s wool and linen. They grow the (organic controlled) cotton in Turkey under German surveillance, the fabrics are then woven and dyed in Germany, as well as the spinning of yarns. The filling material is new sheep wool and derives from sheep used for landscape conservation in the area called Eifel. For the heating pads they use spelt and cherry stones, which of course are also grown organically.
Our factory-owned solar plant produces more energy than is needed for the production of our stuffed animals.
