Nursing and care staff frequently work at night and the weekends, as well as doing above-average amounts of on-call duty. At the same time ever fewer of them are employed full time. These are just two of the conclusions drawn from analyses based on the BAuA Working Time Survey 2019. It is also particularly common for workers’ rest periods to be cut short in the nursing care sector. What is more, employees in nursing and geriatric care report they have little influence over their own working-time patterns.
