Projektbeschreibung :
During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, many employees worked more intensively from home. Numerous companies plan to continue or expand this form of work in the long term. The aim of the completed research project was to accompany the introduction and expansion of home office work and to develop recommendations for creating a healthy and productive work environment.
As part of the project, the motivations of employees and company managers to continue home office work were investigated, along with the technical, organisational, and personal arrangements made. The focus was on the impact on workload, job satisfaction, productivity, and work-life balance. The effects on collaboration, team interactions, and industry-specific differences were also thoroughly examined.
Focus groups revealed that employees appreciate home office work due to its flexibility, but challenges exist regarding self-organisation and the separation of work and private life. Some managers are skeptical and desire clear rules for the future of hybrid work. The intervention study with workshops showed positive signs indicating the usefulness of the interventions, but no significant effects on job satisfaction, productivity, and health.
The small sample size and the short duration of the study of only three months limit the significance of the results. It is recommended to further develop and retest the interventions. The insights gained also led to practical recommendations for companies on how to design home office work effectively.
